Rongrong Chen
Rongrong Chen is a trail racing powerhouse who has competed in over 30 races in four years, winning more than 20 titles.
Her trail running journey began with a simple goal: to stay in shape. She started going to the gym, following a routine of running and strength training. In 2017, upon strong encouragement from fellow runners, she signed up for her first trail race just a week after completing her first marathon. Lacking experience and proper preparation both physically and in terms of gear, Chen faced numerous challenges in her debut race - cramps, exhaustion, and reaching her physical limits. Yet she pushed through, and it was this determination that sparked her enduring passion for trail running.
"Trail running is a battle with myself," she said. With astonishing discipline and extraordinary resilience, Chen improved her marathon time from 3:26 (3 hours 26 minutes) to under three hours, and went on to achieve a legendary "Grand Slam" at the Chongli 168 Ultra Trail, winning all four races she entered and dominating every distance.
Running on the trails gave her a true sense of life. No matter what her future results may be, she hopes to keep running - "until I become the coolest grandma on the trails." as she said.
